Sheila Tett Peevers is an experienced counsellor and mentor with a deeply compassionate, person-centred approach and a wealth of experience supporting people through trauma, addiction, bereavement, mental health challenges, and difficult life transitions.
With a degree in Counselling, Drug and Alcohol Substance Abuse from the University of Leicester and extensive professional training in mental health, counselling, suicide awareness, substance misuse, and psychology, Sheila brings both professional expertise and genuine human understanding to her work.
Her counselling experience includes supporting young people and adults affected by addiction, facilitating family sessions, providing trauma counselling, and mentoring individuals through challenging periods of their lives. In 2013, following the Westgate attack in Nairobi, Sheila provided trauma counselling to approximately 300 children affected by the tragedy.

Known for her warmth, calm presence, attentive listening, and ability to create a safe and non-judgemental space, Sheila believes that every person deserves to be heard, respected, and supported.
At Maitreya Counselling, Sheila’s aim is simple: to walk alongside each person with compassion, understanding, and hope — helping them find their own strength and path forward.
